An essential feature of any Role Playing Game is to have characters hold weapons, shields and other items. In Realm Crafter these items, called gubbins, are extremely easy to setup and allow many options for customization:

  • Create gubbins for all weapons and armor, for hair and for beards. It is also possible to attach auxilliary items such as torches, capes and backpacks.
  • Attach meshes, particle emitters and lights to each Gubbin instance.
  • Allow players to choose from up to 255 hair and beard combinations.
  • Combine different gubbin setups into a single template so that different actor meshes for each race/gender will look correct in-game.
  • Setup gubbin animations for pre-animated meshes.
  • Have capes and robes animated correctly using actor inherited animation.

Inherited Animations
Complex player attachments, such as robes, need to be carefully animated to match the players movement. Realm Crafter allows you to import a rigged, but unanimated, mesh to use a gubbin. This mesh will inherit animations from the base actor, so that the skeletons are moved together causing the mesh to always deform with the player.

Example
The example images below show the Gubbin Editor and the result of a simple torch item in-game.
