The Realm Crafter Editors:

../..http://www.realmcrafter.com/images/img.gifThe Realm Crafter engine comes with several powerful editors. These editors are part of the Realm Crafter MMORPG development system. The following is a short description of the editors included in the engine package.

INCLUDED EDITORS:

The editors included in the engine package are: The General Editor, Scripting Editor (with Quest Wizard), Armoury, and a Basic Terrain Editor.

The Game Editor is the used to put together game areas and levels, place scripts on actors, set event triggers and waypoints, create and place NPC's and monsters, and designate area transitions in the virtual world. The Game Editor is also a terrain and object-placing tool. Each area is made up of an environment with static and dynamic objects - Terrain, building, actors, dungeons, towns or cities.

The following are some of the Game Editors or "Tabs" of the General Editor:

Media Manager Tab: Before any media (meshes, textures, sounds or music) can be used in your game, they must be added to the database using the Media Manager which is accessed through the General Editor. The Media Manager encrypts and protects your media, while ensuring easy creative access by you.

Actor Editor Tab: The Actor Editor is the editor you use to add all playable characters, monsters, bosses and NPCs to your game. To add a new actor to the game, you will need at least a compatible animated model (several are supplied with Realm Crafter), with at least one texture to be applied to it by the engine. You may also want to use extra models for beards, hair and equipment, one or more face textures, and sounds for actor speech.

Particle Creation Tab: The Particle Editor is the editor you use to design the particle system effects for your game. You can set up different effects to be used by the World Editor, the scripting language, or other parts of the engine. An example of some particle effects could be explosions, flames, magic spells, waterfalls, and more.

Item Editor Tab: The Item editor is used to design the items that you want in your game. These items could be anything from magical swords to laser guns, potions to med packs. Attributes of each item can be set using this editor.

Combat Editor Tab: The Combat Editor is where you set up the forumula for combat and damage determination. Damage types are also set up using this editor.

Area Editor Tab: The World Editor is terrain and object-placing tool. This is the editor used to set up areas, place terrains, buildings, trees, NPC's, waypoints, particle efects, sounds, music, and portals. Weather effects, seasons, skies, and lighting are also set up in this editor.

Attributes Tab: The Attributes Tab is where passive character traits for actors are created. An example of an attribute could be Health, Mana, or a skill like Fishing or hunting. Attributes can be named whatever you want them to be.

Days/Seasons Tab: This tab is where you design the basic world time and seasons.

Abilities Tab: An example of an ability could be a fireball spell or a fighting move. Anything active is considered an ability in Realm Crafter. There are no limits to the number of abilities an actor can possess.

Factions Tab: Let's face it, there is always some form of conflict going on in the world, and your game world will probably be no different! This tab is where you decide how your world is divided up into groups or factions and how they feel about the other groups. Settings determine whether an actor assigned to a faction likes, tolerates, or hates any other creature in your game world.

Animations Tab: What would a game be without animations? Realm Crafter makes it easy. After importing your animations simply create an animation name and assign the animation frames to it. Actors are then assigned these animations in the actors tab.

Interface Tab: You want your game to be unique. The interface tab can help. Various game elements such as chat boxes, attribute bars, backgrounds, and more are customized here. you can also customize the look of your game by replacing the images of buttons, borders, and backgrounds.

Scripting Editor is the tool you would use to design your scripts written in the powerful Realm Crafter scripting language. Scripts are used to customize your game by adding behaviors, attributes, actions to actors and the game world.

Realm Crafter Armoury is used to place equipment, armor, helmets, shields, weapons, and more on an actor in Realm Crafter. After making sure these objects (we call them "Gubbins") are correctly fitted to the actors, they can then be placed in-game where players can equip them to their player characters. This editor takes all the guess work and trial-and-error out of fitting your actors and NPCs with the equipment necessary for actor customization.

Realm Crafter Terrains is the tool used to create the landscapes of your world. This editor gives you the ability to create terrains that can be molded and shaped in real-time by using a terrain shaping brush. You can raise mountains, or create canyons and valleys. You can create holes for caves or dungeons as well. The terrain editor gives you six textures of your choice that can be sprayed on the terrain in any resolution you desire. You can further customize the textures by adding vertex coloring to the texures. Can't decide what kind of terrain to make? The terrain editor features a random terrain maker as well. After creating your terrain and painting it, you can then import models like buildings and trees from the Realm Crafter General Editor Media Database and place them by hand or even randomly by height and slope of the terrain. After placing them you can then lightmap your terrain. Terrains can be scaled, and saved or imported directly into the General Editors Area Tab for further work adding actors and waypoints. The terrain editor also comes with a grass and tree swaying system that enables your game worlds vegatation to sway with the wind.

Realm Crafter Tree Maker

Create trees quickly and easily with this new improved version of the RC Tree Editor. Trees can be created now with roots and branches without having to shape them yourself. Trees made with RC Tree maker can sway with the wind and even change colors with the seasons!

Realm Crafter Architect

Just as it's name suggests, Realm Crafter Architect is designed to take model units designed for dungeons and interiors and snap them together to create one interior model. Architect can also be used to snap interiors into building shells so that you can have buildings with interior/exteriors in your game. After finishing your interior or building you can then lightmap it to give it that realistic look. Architect comes with 70+ interior model units and or interior elements. Four styles are included: Castle, Crypt, Cave, Town.

Realm Crafter Rock Maker

Rocks. Every world needs them and yet budget world designers find themselves using the same old rock model over and over. With the Rock Maker you are no longer bound to using the same old tired rocks. With just a few clicks you can create the custom rocks and boulders your world needs.

OPTIONAL EDITORS: The Realm Crafter Toolbox

The Realm Crafter Toolbox is a set of optional tools that are sold separately and not included with the standard or professional edition. These tools are not required, but can be useful in creating your game world. The following are descriptions of these optional editors:

Realm Crafter Mega Terrain

The Realm Crafter Mega Terrains is an advanced terrain editor designed for those who are interested in creating massive, detailed terrains. Designed with speed in mind, it still has a tremendous task, that is creating very detailed terrains that are anywahere from two to five miles square, and yet have detail so sharp that footpath and road textures can be high resolution. This application is not for the faint of heart! A lightmapping session of a massive terrain may take upwards of an hour to complete. Read more.....

Realm Crafter GUI SkinCrafter

Skincrafter is a GUI enhancement tool, designed to automate the process of creating buttons for your Realm Crafter games. By automating the process of GUI creation you can spend more time building your game and less time fiddling around in a Graphic editing program like Photoshop. Although of course advanced users can still touch up the images the tool creates. If you are a licensed user you can download a demo here:

Realm Crafter Cave Maker

Create caves and underground passages using this unique editor! The user starts with a solid block in the editor and "carves" out a cave easily and quickly using the built-in brushes. These brushes can help you carve out stairs and doorways. A must for those who want a deep dark cave in their game world!
