3DSMAX Exporter
|

Realm Crafter Pro & Standard
A converter has been added to
allow users to export AutoDesks' 3D Studio Max files (animated and static) into Realm Crafter.
Third Party exporters will no longer be needed as the converter will
work with all recent MAX versions.
The RC/MAX Exporter handles geometry,
materials and meshes with several materials applied, textures,
etc.
The exporter has been implemented so that if any modification is needed later on, it will be easy to add.

Abyssal Adds Raknet
|
|
Abyssal Technologies, a provider of Game Development tools today
announced the integration of the RakNet cross platform C++ game
networking engine for its OpenGL based development engine and tools
allowing for multiplayer and massively multiplayer game development.
The RakNet enabled version of the Abyssal Engine is
available for sale on our store now.

New LOD Tree Library Added
New Tree Editor for Pro Version 2.40
We will be
including a brand new tree library which is responsible for managing,
optimizing and rendering tree meshes. Each tree can have a solid trunk,
billboard leaves, normal mapped materials as well as automatically
generated LOD billboards for trees in the distance, they also sway in
the wind. This system will also optimize the rendering of meshes better
than if trees were static scenery; it's possible to have thousands of
active trees onscreen with a high frame rate. The core implementation
and renderer is complete; only the editors remain.

A List of Upcoming Features for 2.40
Here is a list of the new features that will be released with the upcoming 2.40 Realm Crafter Professional release:
LOD Meshes - Import
less detailed meshes into groups alongside your existing high detail
geometry. You can also import a mesh used specifically for collision
data to add clipping areas and ramps above stairs. Meshes are
automatically swapped out at a distance, as defined in the media
manager.
Shadows - Variance
Shadow Maps are cast from the sun to the scene with soft edges. The
existing detail selection options will take effect allowing your
players to use basic shadowing to full scene shadowing (including
trees).
Reflective Water - Existing water planes will be made more detailed with the ability to reflect the surrounding environment.
Sky Improvements - A new sky shaders and camera effects which will vastly improve the current environment.
Cave Editor - Special
objects added so that the New Cave Editor can be used with RCP and once
that is done it will be released to current owners and sold on the
website.

Pro Version Server & Scripting Announced
New Server & Scripting Language for 2.50
We are currently working on a new server for RCP to replace the old
server that is being used now while we are in Beta. So far the results
are very promising.
The new server will contain all of the features
that the current server contains, but will use a new programming
language, scripting language and will also be compatible with the Linux
operating system. The new language will offer speed increases as well
as significant design improvements. We intend to use C# as the
scripting language of the server due to its speed and design; scripts
are JIT compiled so that they run at the same speed as the application
and the C# language design allows for very well structured
object-oriented code. In addition to these improvements, C# also
features a large array of default libraries (including runtime
services, collections/arrays/lists, real strings, etc.) with a huge
amount of information available on the internet.
